Hello Friends!
I trust that you ended 2021 in the best space possible; and if not, no worries! This year can be what you make it. And if I know you like I think I do, I know y'all are about to show up and show out in your best capacity.
Anywho!
I'm excited about this year. Excited to do what I love to do; which is write. Over the weekend as I was gearing up to meet you here, I was catching up on some of your messages of support, and it reminded me of one of my few intentions for the year. Your warm words reminded me of why this specific intention is so necessary.
One of my main intentions for the year is to stop hiding. I realized whenever any of my post would gain attention, I would retreat for a week or two, to recover. Like "oh no, they see me; I'm out!"
I haven't really dug into why I didn't want to be seen; but I believe it was little imposter syndrome and a little of trying to figure out what the world wanted to see. And in both instances my focus was off and here's why:
I’m very qualified to write about anything I choose.
It wasn't about what the world wanted to see. It was about authenticity. Me showing up as me.
ALSO, what I do know is, retreating hasn't put me any closer to my goals. One thing's for sure.... I'm not okay with that. I'm clearly the only one standing in my way. Have you ever been there? Maybe you don't retreat when the gettin's, getting good; but maybe you self sabotage in another way by indulging in self doubt or inconsistency.
Whatever it may be, I challenge you to have the courage to do something different this year. When I reflected over the last year of how I got in the way of me accomplishing some of my goals, I was over myself.
Real footage of me diving deep into it:
But!
What I know is, sometimes you have to get fed up with yourself in order to make a change. In early December, I wrote down some of my intentions for 2022, and I started making space for them. Each week I would do something a little different than I used to. I took a moment to organize some of my spaces too, which aided in me being in the right mental space to tackle these goals.
Now, each day, I'm intentionally doing one thing to move me in the direction I want to go. Whether writing to post on the blog, scheduling content for social media, or working on my book; I'm doing something to keep it moving. No procrastination and definitely no more hiding.
Make this year whatever you want it to be. I'm rooting for you. Let's chat soon.
