Finishing What We Start

Hey Friends!
This week, I’ve been thinking a lot about time—not just how to use it effectively but how to truly make the most of what I’ve been given.
About a month ago, my neighbor lost her husband. Without sharing the details, I’ll just say this: one day, we saw him, and the next, the sun came up without him. That day, I had a hard time coping. It was a bittersweet reminder that tomorrow isn’t promised. We all know this, but it doesn’t fully hit home until someone is suddenly gone.
I found myself sitting with the weight of that reality—thinking about his wife and son, about the grief they would have to carry. Our neighborhood is still new. We built these homes from the ground up, and we haven’t even been here a year yet. And now, this? Now what?
That loss made me pause and reflect. Am I truly living? What have I left undone? What dreams have I put on hold? What passions have I neglected?
I started thinking about the things I’ve begun but never finished. The ideas I was excited about but let fade. The commitments I made but never followed through on.
And I realized: time is a gift—but it’s also a responsibility.
It’s easy to start something. A new project, a new goal, a new habit. But finishing? That’s where the real challenge lies. Stewarding our time well means honoring what we’ve committed to. It means showing up, even when it’s hard, even when the excitement wears off.
So, I want to challenge both myself and you:
What have you started that you need to finish?
What’s been sitting on the back burner for too long?
How can you be more intentional with your time today?
Because we don’t know how many days we have left, and the Bible says that “life is but a vapor” (James 4:14). It appears for a little while and then vanishes. But we do know we have today.
Let’s use it well.
Let’s be good stewards of our time.
Let’s finish what we start.
